My mom, Sheila Moe, is the artist for our new mugs! Depending upon how far back you go in history with the resort, you may know her. My parents owned the resort for 24 years, owning and operating it from 1973 to 1996, before Bob and I bought it from them. She's also the artist of the resort map that is on our rate sheet.
It is quite evident from what she decided to include in the picture that she has a strong attachment to Two Inlets Resort, and a good understanding of what guests enjoy about their Minnesota lake vacation. Mom's thought with the picture was to make it "fun, colorful, somewhat folksy, and specifically representative of Two Inlets Resort .... without being too realistic." I think she achieved that!
For instance, you may notice that the sun is shining but the stars are out. Or that the fishing line with the bobber is not attached to a pole. Or that painted turtles can't grow to that size!
But the location is clearly Two Inlets Resort. The cabins are red and close to the water, and each has a screen porch. Pine trees are abundant. The fish and loon are native to the lake, and overall it's a very happy place!
Below is the entire picture that is wrapped around the mug. We will have them for sale in the lodge this upcoming season. They are definitely one-of-a-kind!
Until next time ~~ Jennifer
