Park Rapids, MN vacations are in full swing. In my last blog post I promised to update you on the fishing on Two Inlets Lake when there was something to talk about. Well, let me say that the fishing for our guests has been good for the past two weeks. The fish cleaning house is used daily, and I've been wrapping some northerns, crappies and walleyes for guests to transport home (that's one of the services we provide to all our guests). I'm smelling fish frying as I walk around the resort, and guests are talking about the delicious fish they are eating. So you might be saying, "Great! Show us the pictures!"
Five to ten years ago, it used to be that guests would find me to take a picture of their fish, whether the catch was big, small or many. Rarely did a large fish go unannounced, with full documentation with a picture from every angle. Well, the fish are still being caught and the excitement is still there, but the need for a picture seems to be gone! Everyone has a camera on their phone! My resort camera isn't needed any more.
I still get the stories, however, and those are always fun. Some guests from Nebraska caught a 26" and a 28" northern off their dock, and a 30" northern while out in their boat. They also lured in and netted a very large red horse sucker on the end of the dock. No fishing pole needed! While these fish aren't the most glamorous, they still weigh quite a bit and are fun to catch. The kids thought it was a hoot!
We're getting measurable rain as I type this. We'll see what that does to the fishing.
Until next time ~~ Jennifer
