For five days straight last week our weather was gray ........... literally. As you can see in the first picture below, when the sun doesn't shine, the lake, trees, air and sky are nothing but gray. I don't know how people in Washington and Oregon make it through their winters.
In the second picture, the sun was shining and everything turned blue! Even though the air was considerably colder, it gave a much better view. With the colder air also came ice, which we all want. The lake appears to have open water in the gray picture, but that's just water on top of (thin) ice. I took the blue picture the very next morning, and the top water froze overnight! All we need now are some nights of single digit temperatures with no snow or wind, and we could have a GREAT playground for ice skating.
Until next time, Jennifer
P.S. I forgot to mention that when the lake is freezing, it sings, pops and pings. It's loud enough that I can hear it with the windows closed! It's pretty cool.
