"Traditional lake cabin resort for families and fishermen" is how we describe ourselves. It's pretty simple and probably not all inclusive, but you get the idea. Minnesota resorts have been a tradition in our state for a very long time. Two Inlets Resort will be celebrating it's 70th year this summer. We're very proud of that!
There was a time when resorts were selling off to development as the value of lakeshore started to increase. Recently, there was an article in the Minnesota Resorter Magazine published by the Community of Minnesota Resorts, that offered some historical numbers.
I agree, that over 50 years, that's a significant decline, but still far from disappearing! Here is a note I recently received from an online inquiry from a woman in North Carolina:
"I stayed at Platten's for many summers in the 1950's. My sister was trying to remember the name of the place. I ended up looking it up and cannot believe you are still there! My daughters and I are thinking about a vacation there next summer. Could you send me a brochure?"
So, do you have childhood memories of a beloved Minnesota resort? If you do, try to look it up. It could very well be that you will find it!
Until next time ~~ Jennifer
Two Inlets Resort was established in 1946 by Roger and Olga Platten. With the exception of dropping "Platten" as it changed owners, the name has remained unchanged. Current owners Jennifer and Bob Bateman will celebrate their 20th summer in 2016, and the resort it's 70th summer.
